Tasmanian Made Garden Sheds.

Our garden sheds are proper steel sheds, just built at backyard size. They start at 2m x 2m and run up to 6m x 6m, in squares and rectangles, with a gable or skillion roof. Tasmanians use them for everything: garden tools and the mower, bikes and firewood, a potting bench, or a tidy lock-up you can back the ride-on straight into. Whatever the job, it is the same steel and the same custom approach as the rest of our range, sized to fit your spot. We have been supplying sheds across Tasmania since 2014 from our base in Moonah, Hobart.

Not the flimsy kind

If you are picturing the thin tin boxes sold as garden sheds, the ones you can flex with one hand and that lift in the first decent wind, that is not what we make. There is nothing under 2m x 2m in our range and nothing built down to a price. A Tassie Sheds garden shed is a scaled-down version of our bigger buildings: Australian BlueScope steel, a proper frame, doors that keep working, and a shed you can lean a ladder against without worrying about it. We call them garden sheds because that is how people use them, not because they are the cheap, throwaway kind.

Sizes and what people use them for

Every shed is custom, so treat these as starting points rather than a fixed catalogue:

• 2m x 2m: the compact option for tools, the mower and garden gear, tucked beside the house or against a fence line.
• 3m x 4m: the popular rectangle. Room for the ride-on, bikes, firewood and shelving, with space left to move around.
• Up to 6m x 6m: getting close to a small workshop. A bench along one wall, storage on the other, and the garden gear still fits.

Roof style is your call: a gable for the classic shed look, or a skillion for a single clean slope that suits a modern house or a tight spot against a boundary. If you need more than 6m x 6m, or a building you can lock a vehicle in, our garages and workshops carry on from where the garden range ends.

Colours and cladding

Cladding comes in ZINCALUME® steel or your pick of the 22 standard COLORBOND® colours, so the shed can match the house, the fence or the garden, or disappear behind a hedge in a deep green. What does a garden shed cost?

There is no single price, because a 2m x 2m tool shed and a 6m x 6m near-workshop are different builds. What we will give you is a written quote for the exact shed you want: tell us the size, roof style and colours through our quote form, or design it yourself in the 3D shed designer and send us the design for a firm figure. Do you need council approval for a garden shed in Tasmania?

Usually this is good news. Tasmanian CBOS rules exempt many small buildings of 36 m² and under from needing a building permit, and every shed in the garden range sits at or under that line: even the largest 6m x 6m option is exactly 36 m². Size is not the only factor though. Boundary setbacks, bushfire-prone and landslip areas, and your local planning scheme can all change the answer, so we always recommend a quick conversation with your council before you build. Delivery and installation

Garden sheds are supplied in kit form with plans, and delivery is free across most of Tasmania (the main areas we do not service are south of Smithton and Waratah, down to Strahan, and across the Central Highlands). Plenty of owners put a garden-size shed up themselves, and if you would rather not, we can recommend experienced installers across Tasmania to do it for you.
